Our Mission in the words of our founder
WHAT? WHY? HOW?
WHAT
"Deheim" is Swiss-German and means home. We promote the idea that a home is more than a physical space that provides shelter, privacy and Wi-Fi. It is a collection of costums, people and physical spaces that you feel a part of and allow you to be yourself, feel safe and be social. Through the survey on this website, we inspire people to envision how such a space could look like and who they would like to live there with. We then use this data to connect you with like-minded people with similar values, housing interest and eventually hobbies. We set up a meeting or call to discuss and if it feels right, we will help you to realise your shared communal housing dream by fixing a common vision and frame work and connecting you with the necessary stakeholders. This is called citizen driven real estate development.
WHY
The single most important indicator for happiness is the quality of our social connections. Historically, humans thrived on collaboration and communal living, as it is the safest and most resource efficient way to live. Ever since the industrial revolution, this dynamic has changed.
In the developed world, it became the norm to move to large, impersonal cities and apartment buildings and change locations every few years. Therefore, it has become increasingly difficult to upkeep a strong social circle around oneself, which has led to rising rates of loneliness, overconsumption and inefficient resource usage due to a lack of sharing. Hence, we have made it our mission to use the benefits of communal living to create value through social connections, as well as facilitate the sharing of resources to promote a better and more sustainable lifestyle in the developed world. When you share, you can have more for less.
HOW
Through the survey on this website, we collect all the necessary data about where and with whom you could imagine living and how much you would like to share. With the use of an algorithm, we then build groups of like-minded individuals and connect them with each other and inform them about their opportunity. If interested, we can then assist you in co-creating your own housing cooperative with traditions, a physical space and a fixed ownership structure. This could for example be:
